He was one of a number of players who made the journey from Glasgow to Sunderland in August 2006 as new manager Roy Keane recruited former team mates from Celtic.
He was influential during their promotion season but then fell out with Keane who placed him on the transfer list. Burnley, under the previous manager, tried to sign him but we were turned down and in August 2008 he moved to Preston, initially on loan.
A goal for Preston, one of nine league goals he's scored for them, delayed Burnley's confirmation into the play offs by a week a year ago, and he's been a regular for North End, claiming no fewer than thirteen yellow cards last season as he featured in all but five of their games.
