Waldo to make draw

Colin Waldron
Waldron was a Harry Potts signing in October 1967 but after a couple of years in the side, during which time he became captain, he was left out after a disagreement with Potts and only won his place back when Jimmy Adamson took charge.

No player was selected more often by Adamson and he was never left out of a side for the next six years other than for injury and suspension. He was an ever present in the side that won promotion in 1973 and scored the Championship clinching goal at Preston in the last game. Before our return to the top division he'd scored again, this time the only goal in the Charity Shield win against Manchester City.

He became captain again after Martin Dobson was sold to Everton but was released in the summer of 1976 at the age of 27, one of a number of dissenters at Adamson's sacking to leave the club.

Waldo signed for Manchester United after leaving the Clarets but has remained in the area where he is still a successful bookmaker. He was a top player in the side that won our last promotion back to the First Division, and it is always good to see him back on the Turf Moor pitch.
