Waiting on Gow

There were reports last night that Gow had turned down the Clarets, a decision that would have left the whole move in jeopardy, and there were even suggestions that other clubs such as Preston and Ipswich might move in for the Scottish 'B' international.

Lafferty said last night: "The deal is not completely concluded but I'm hoping it's only a matter of time before Alan's situation is sorted. I had a medical and everything at my end went according to plan.

"I'm looking forward to playing for Rangers and the first game I will hopefully be involved in is with Liverpool pre-season. I know it's only a friendly but it's a huge match for me."

Gow meanwhile visited Burnley yesterday to discuss a move to the Clarets and met with chairman Barry Kilby. He did leave without agreeing anything but Kilby believes that the player will become Owen Coyle's first Burnley signing.

Gow said: "I'm still thinking about things," but Kilby commented: "Alan is very keen. He went to Rangers but has been on the sidelines and is anxious at this stage of his career to get out on the pitch."

Kilby added that Gow remains in talks and they are expected to continue today.
