Wade goal wins award

Wade Elliott
The Clarets' winger was up for two awards at the 2008 North West Football Awards last night and his goal took the Goal of the Season award, and what an accolade that is given that he was up against goals from the two mentioned above.

He received his award from Ray Stubbs and Mark Lawrenson and said afterwards: "The real quality of the goal was in Robbie Blake's nutmeg to set it up. I just swung my bad foot and it flew in, but I was happy with it and I don't suppose I will beat Ronaldo to many awards, so it is a special one."

Wade was also nominated for the Player of the Year. A year ago Clarets Mad became aware of Michael Duff's nomination and pushed for people to vote and it proved successful. This year year we were late in realising that Wade was similarly nominated but he still finished in second place to Preston defender Sean St. Ledger.

Our congratulations to him, it is fully deserved.
