Vokes closing in after Bournemouth game

Last updated : 13 November 2013 By Tony Scholes

It was Sam's strike partner Danny Ings who scored our late equaliser, heading home from close range after a header back to him from Shackell, but Vokes was without doubt once more in excellent form and gave Bournemouth problems all afternoon.

He won the man of the match with 30.4% of the vote. Michael Duff took second place with 21.1% with David Jones coming in third with 18.7% of the vote. A 6.0% share gave Shackell fourth place.

The same four players also took the top four places in the player ratings. Again Vokes was the winner with a rating of 7.30 out of 10. Shackell was second here with 7.23, followed by Jones and Duff who had ratings of 7.14 and 7.12 out of 10 respectively.

Vokes, the Clarets Mad Player of the Month in both September and October, has already laid down a marker for November and he won the maximum ten points towards the player of the year with all of Duff, Jones and Shackell collecting four points.

Shackell needed those points to stay on top but his lead over Vokes has now been reduced to three points. Ings is now a massive 22 points behind Vokes with Jones, who has gone clear of Kieran Trippier, a further ten points behind in fourth place.
