VK Vodka Kick confirmed alongside Lanway

The club said some time ago that Lanway were not keen to extend with a full sponsorship but were happy to continue with a home kit deal and that is exactly what has happened with the away shirt sponsorship taken up by GBL International.

The new home shirt is very Aston Villa rather than Burnley in style and will carry the Lanway name for the third season. Their Managing Director Stephen Ackers said, "Our support of Burnley Football Club over the last two years has clearly enhanced our standing as market leaders for IT in the region and we look forward to continuing our wonderful relationship with the Club.

"Sponsoring the home shirt make sense from a commercial point of view as our market is based in the north west. This innovative deal also makes solid commercial sense for the club too."

The new away strip will be, as we revealed some time ago, a silver/grey kit and the shirt will carry the name ‘VK Vodka Kick’ one of the top brands of the Derbyshire based GBL International.

The company, who also sponsor Barnsley, Chesterfield, Mansfield Town and Southport, have grown rapidly from a four man and a van beginning in 1997 to a £70 million turnover company today.

The Managing Director and founder of GBL International, Steve Perez, said: "Since GBL International was founded we have always had very close links to Burnley and I am delighted that we have been able to team up with Burnley FC to help give something back to the Town.

"Burnley FC is poised for great things next season and is a team that I am proud for VK Vodka Kick to be associated with."

Last season there were numerous complaints from supporters at the number of occasions when the club’s colours were snubbed away from home when they could have been used. With this deal it is almost certain that the club won’t play at all in their Claret & Blue colours away from home and that is probably why they have gone for this colour.

Mind you Stan could follow Alex Ferguson and blame them for bad results because the players cannot see each other.

The new home kit will be available to buy from 4th July although the away kit will not be available until the opening day of the season, 9th August, and just three days before it is used in the first away game of the season at Chesterfield.

Many clubs are reducing the price of replica kits now and it is not uncommon to see them down to as little as £30. Ours are not going down but thankfully they are at least not being increased and the new shirts will sell at the same price as last season’s kit. That is £39.99 for adults, £35.99 for youths and £31.99 for children. The prices quoted are for short sleeved shirts.
