This will be the fifth time the sides have met in the League Cup and that includes the semi-final in the competition's inaugural year of 1960/61 when Villa beat the Clarets in a replay at Old Trafford.
Ten years later it was a shock result at Villa Park as then 3rd Division Villa beat 1st Division Burnley.
More recently we beat them in 2004/05 at Turf Moor when scored in a 3-1 win but the following season we were beaten 1-0 at Villa Park with Kevin Phillips scoring the only goal. Those games were in the 4th and 3rd rounds respectively.
This time, again a Villa Park, we come up against a side under the management of Gerard Houllier who has recently replaced Martin O'Neill. The game is likely to be played on Tuesday 26th October.
