Uriah gets cup tie

Last updated : 25 October 2005 By Tony Scholes

The last time was the league game against Wigan that ended 0-0 in January 2004 on the day that Neil Wood and Bradley Orr made their Burnley debuts. He caused us no real problems that day although had not had the best of games at Derby earlier in the season.

He does have something of a bad reputation but overall I’ve not seen him have too many bad games although I still recall his first Burnley game when he yellow carded Chris Vinnicombe twice and failed to send him off. That was also in a League Cup tie back in 1994 at York.

He’s certainly not a book happy referee these days and so far this season is, as he did for the whole of last season, averaging two per game. His total so far is 20 from 10 games with a couple of red cards thrown in.

Those red cards both came in the same game and left Barnsley with just nine players as they went down 2-0 at home to Doncaster. He sent off defender Neil Austin 18 minutes into the game and Antony Kay followed him 18 minutes from time.

Of those yellow cards eight of them have gone the way of home players and the other twelve to away players. Five of those came at Old Trafford on Saturday, five is the most he has issued in any game this season, in fact in any game in over two years.

His assistant referees at Villa are Martin Cassidy (Somerset) and Andy Williams (Herefordshire). The fourth official is Brian Curson who refereed our last match last season at Millwall.
