Update on the Youths

We can now confirm that Damian Hindle scored both Burnley goals. We deserved the win and have been told by one Claret who was able to get to the game that every player on the field looked comfortable on the ball and said we especially looked good running at the Bradford City defence.

There is no doubt that the youth team, despite one or two hiccups on the way, have shown a great improvement during the season and we look to have more potential at this level than for a good number of years.

Ours was one of a number of games played in the second division of the Merit League on Saturday and the results were as follows:

Burnley 2 Bradford City 1 (at Bradford)
Carlisle United 3 York City 2
Grimsby Town 0 Chester City 1
Oldham Athletic 5 Mansfield Town 1
Darlington 1 Shrewsbury Town 1 (match abandoned due to waterlogged pitch)

The Shrewsbury team spent five hours in getting to Darlington for this game and the league are now set to adjudicate as to whether the result should stand.

The weekend results have seen the Clarets move up to third in the table.
