Coyle has said the summer will be hectic as he looks to strengthen his squad and start to make it his team. "I've had targets in mind since I came here from day one," he said. "We tried to get them in January but they were either unavailable or they were outside our financial possibilities.

"We've been scoring worldwide for players and we do have targets in mind. We will try to move those on and whether they come to fruition only time will tell, but we will leave no stone unturned to try to do that.

"If we can get the players in during the summer that we want to help the ones we've got we will be a potent threat for anybody."

David Unsworth would very much like to be part of that squad and has said he would like to end his career with the Clarets. "I think I have a couple of seasons left and I hope those seasons will be with Burnley," Unsworth admitted.

"I said to the gaffer in January that at this stage of my career I don't want to be moving around and hopefully we'll sit down at the end of the season and sort something out. I've really enjoyed this season and we are still in there fighting.

"Without a doubt this club has ambition. The chairman, the manager and the players want to be successful. We have a slim chance of going up this year, and if not we definitely want to make it next year.

"What is happening with the redevelopment of the ground ties in great if we can do it next year. It is certain a club that won't stand still. This club is going forward and all the players want to be part of it."

Unsworth is also planning for the future and visitors to recent reserve team games will have seen him in the dug out alongside Steve Davis. This is part of his work towards his UEFA 'B' licence and he's also being taking some coaching sessions with the youth team.
