United want £2 million for Eckersley

Richard Eckersley
The Clarets new right back put pen to paper on a four year contract just four days ago after he turned down the offer of a new contract at Old Trafford. However, because of his age, there will be a fee payable for him.

It was reported by our club on Wednesday that we were in negotiation with United over the fee but news this morning suggests they want a lot more than we've offered.

The news is that United value Eckersley at £2 million, a somewhat hefty fee I would suspect for a player with such limited first team experience. Burnley, on the other hand, appear to have offered a slightly less figure of £250,000 for him.

Should the clubs not agree, and that would suggest there is little hope they will, then a tribunal will decide exactly how much Burnley will have to pay.
