United fans will be removed - Holt

The warning comes following news, not rumour, that tickets were on sale outside Old Trafford last Saturday before the game against Newcastle United and were going for considerably more than the ticket price. This follows an attempt to sell a ticket via this web site only last week for the extortionate price of £75.

Clive Holt said that one of the reasons for the club introducing the scheme to sell tickets to those who bought a Norwich ticket was to prevent Manchester United fans getting their hands on them.

To be honest it didn't stop anyone getting their hands on one, anyone prepared to pay for tickets for both games was able to buy a ticket and with the prices being quoted this weekend it still represented good value.

The ticket office manager was closer to the mark when he told Clarets Mad that decisions fo the sale of the tickets were made to maximise revenue and that was clearly the reason for selling tickets this way, to sell as many as possible for the Norwich game as well.

Rather than reward non season ticket holders by allowing them to buy with vouchers (as previously used successfully) they hooked on to a chance to make some more money during these difficult financial time but this has meant more tickets getting into the hands of visiting fans than would otherwise have been the case.

We have also been told by the club that the gentleman buying up seven tickets for each match with a Manchester United credit card was in fact a Burnley fan. I just wonder why a Burnley fan would have a Manchester United credit card, and I certainly hope the ticket office staff gave him an application for a Burnley FC card.

How many Manchester United fans will be in the home stands next Tuesday we don't know but there is evidence that there were a good number of them using up the Norwich match tickets last Saturday in the Jimmy Mac Stand Lower Tier.

Hopefully there will be no need to remove fans next Tuesday but suggestions that the number of tickets that have gone to Manchester United fans is estimated by many to be close to four figures suggests the stewards could have their work cut out.
