United close the gap

Last updated : 22 April 2010 By Tony Scholes

It all looked to be going Chelsea's way but after Manchester United won the Saturday lunchtime derby against City, Chelsea followed it up with a defeat at Spurs. It's between the two of them now; Arsenal had lost at Spurs in midweek and then threw a two goal lead away at Wigan in the last ten minutes. They will finish third.

The fight for that fourth, and the last Champions League place, is still tight but realistically it will go to either Spurs or Manchester City. I wonder what Rafa Benitez makes of his promise now.

Defeat for the Clarets at Sunderland you might have thought would condemn us to relegation, but West Ham are doing their best to keep us and Hull in with a chance. They were woeful at Anfield on Monday. However, I do expect them to beat Wigan this weekend which could then see our fate sealed on Sunday.

The latest results and stats, along with the leading scorers, each club's disciplinary record and the next fixtures are all below.
