Under-20 Call for Chappy

Last updated : 05 August 2004 By Tony Scholes

Last season he made his international debut for the Under-21s at Hull and became the first Burnley player to be capped by England at that level and only the second Burnley player, following Dimitri Papadopoulos to win an Under-21 cap. He came on as a late substitute but then made a full debut for the Under-19s.

This time it is the Under-20s and he is off to their training camp a week on Saturday, straight after the league game at Watford. It is at Champneys Springs near Ashby-de-la-Zouch and he will be with the party until the Tuesday.

It is another boost for Chappy who has been in the news for much of the summer with his supposed move to Leeds before he signed a new four year deal with the Clarets. Now it is more international honours for the latest natural born Claret.
