Two trialists in the reserves

Last week we had David French in the centre of defence in our 4-1 defeat at Preston and he features again tonight along with Paul Holmes who will play in midfield. In fact the inclusion of trialist Holmes is the only change from the team beaten last week with Marc Pugh stepping down onto the subs bench.

All five substitutes from the first win at Gillingham will also be in the starting line up as Ronnie Jepson’s team hope to copy the first team and youth team in picking up their first win of the season.

Burnley will line up: Michael Hale, Danny Pitham, David French, Arthur Gnohere, Paul Scott, Paul Holmes, Darrel Avery, Richard Chaplow, Matt O’Neill, Damien Hindle, Alan Moore. Subs: Marc Pugh, Neal Trotman, Alex Taylor, Tom Ince, Ross Preston.

There will be experience in the Walsall side in the shape of Darren Wrack, Gary Birch and former Leicester player Stefan Oakes and they will be joined by some of the Bescot Stadium youngsters.

Walsall have won their only reserve game of the season, beating Barnsley 3-1 at home last week. Gary Birch scored twice with the other coming from Matty Fryatt who also plays tonight.

The Walsall team is: Aaron Kerr, Ryan Willetts, Kris Taylor, Stefan Oakes, Gavin Caines, Julian Bennett, Darren Wrack, Nick Smith, Gary Birch, Matty Fryatt, Karl Hawley. Subs: Daryl Taylor, Taiwo Atieno, Nathan Jameson, Scott Dann, Dean Coleman.

Admission tonight is free to season ticket holders and otherwise £3 adults, £1.50 concessions.
