Two more Division One goals from Ex-Clarets

David Johnson - two goals this week for Forest
For the second game in succession David Johnson found the net for Forest and this time it was the first of four Forest goals against Sheffield Wednesday. It was a typical Johnson goal as he cut in from the left and drilled it past the keeper to his left and in by the far post, very reminiscent of some of his Burnley goals last season.

Andy Cooke scored his first goal at this level since he scored the only goal of the game in our win against Crewe at the Turf a couple of seasons ago. For Cooke though his goal could hardly be described as a typical Cooke goal. It is most unlikely he has ever scored a goal like that before.

Bradford goalkeeper Gary Walsh had the ball at his feet preparing to clear it and unaware that Cookey was coming towards him. He could do nothing as Andy nicked the ball from him and slotted it into the empty net.

Reviewing the weekend in the First Division it looks as though Gillingham intend replacing West Brom as the 1-0 team, yesterday's win against Millwall was their third 1-0 win of the season. They are two points clear at the top, the only side with maximum points but this counts for nothing. Last season it was Bradford City and Burnley with a maximum return with Gillingham the surprise starters with seven points in third place.

Two of last season's play off losers, Norwich and Wolves, are close behind with seven points but the remaining play off team, the Kebab Seller's outfit from South London, are just a point and a place above the Clarets.

Meanwhile at Watford the away support for Franchise FC was estimated at over 150 and that was a big increase on the 15 who turned up at Grimsby. Apparently Koppel had put on some transport for some people to come down from Milton Keynes. Next week it is thought that he might invite kids in for nothing to try and boost the home crowds. Hopefully the loser is on a loser.

Finally there was a strange incident at Grimsby where Derby's Fabrizio Ravanelli tried to get the game abandoned after just 19 minutes following a collision between Grimsby's Steve Livingstone and Danny Higginbotham of Derby. The clash of heads sent Livingstone to hospital with blood pouring out of his ear. He remains in hospital but the injury is thankfully not as bad as first feared.

Ravanelli was apparently so concerned about the injury that he pleaded with referee Tony Leake to call the game off and in front of the Sky cameras too. The game was completed and Derby won 2-1.

Hopefully next week's review will have seen the Clarets move off the bottom of the league.
