Two in Team of the Week

Michael Duff - in the Football League Team of the Week alongside Andy Gray
Last season, whilst up towards the top of the league, we didn't get a single player in any of the weekly teams, not even the week we won 4-1 at Norwich. We were the last club to get a player in, and we ended the season with less than any other club.

Surprisingly we had no players in following our win against West Brom, the week after it was no surprise as we suffered the 2-0 reverse at Scunthorpe. This time our away win has been recognised, and not only do we have a player in the week's team, but along with three other clubs we have two players in the line up.

There's no doubt that one of those places has to go to Andy Gray. He turned in a superb performance of centre forward play at Layer Road and also netted twice including a second half penalty. We had other candidates too, and left back Stephen Jordan in particular must have been very close.

It wasn't Jordan but his full back partner Michael Duff who made the team. Duff played well defensively and also got in the cross that led to our opening goal from Alan Mahon.

The team also includes a former Burnley player, young Southampton winger Nathan Dyer who spent a few weeks with us on loan towards the end of 2005. The full team is:

Adriano Basso (Bristol City), Michael Duff (Burnley), Andy Crosby (Scunthorpe), Patrick Kisnorbo (Leicester), Louis Carey (Bristol City), Nathan Dyer (Southampton), Karl Henry (Wolves), Jim Goodwin (Scunthorpe), Tommy Smith (Watford), Andy Gray (Burnley), Grzegorz Rasiak (Southampton).
