Two Frenchmen and an Irishman for Isle of Man

Two of them we told you about yesterday, Fabrice Richard and Mickhael Antoine-Curier and you can click HERE to read about them.

But there was a new face at Gawthorpe this morning, described to us earlier as 6ft 5ins with an Irish accent. That is the case and the name of Clive Delaney has been pencilled in.

Delaney is now 23 years old but has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 23 level. He has played most of his football in the Eircom League but more recently signed for West Ham.

He never made the first team at the Boleyn Ground and was released after a loan spell at Hibs where again he didn't get a first team game.

The three of them join the rest of the squad which somewhat surprisingly includes Luke Chadwick despite the news yesterday that he is unable to play. Of the players reported to be injured only Mark McGregor misses out on the trip although his injury is nothing like as serious as first thought.

Scholar Richard Chaplow is involved and it is good to see some of the younger players going, although there is no place for either Joel Pilkington or Damien Hindle. Just ten of the squad have sampled the delights of the Isle of Man with the Clarets previously.

The nineteen in the squad are: Brian Jensen, Lee Roche, Mo Camara, Paul Weller, Graham Branch, Glen Little, Robbie Blake, Gareth Taylor, Ian Moore, Alan Moore, Tony Grant, Dean West, Arthur Gnohere, Luke Chadwick, Richard Chaplow, Matt O’Neill, Clive Delaney, Fabrice Richard, Mickhael Antoine-Curier.
