TV boost for Clarets

The fact that the television cameras will be at Turf Moor means the club will automatically receive an extra £150,000 as a sixth Burnley cup tie in the last three seasons goes out live.

The money will more than compensate for any drop in the attendance that will be due to the timing of the match preventing some people from getting to Turf Moor, and the fact that some will prefer to watch it at home. The club will have to take this into account when they set the prices as they look to try and attract people to the tie.

The only previous occasions when Burnley’s FA Cup ties have been screened live on Sky have all resulted in wins. In the 1994/95 season we triumphed 2-1 at Chester in a 2nd Round tie with David Eyres and Adrian Heath both scoring for the Clarets.

A Paul Cook goal was enough to beat Barnet in a 1st Round match at Underhill back during the 1999/2000 season a
nd two years ago goals from Gareth Taylor, Ian Moore and Driss Diallo secured a superb 3-0 win against Fulham that took us into the 6th Round for the first time in twenty years.

Kick off on Friday 7th January will be at 7:45 p.m.
