Turf tunnel trouble

Shaun Derry - five stitches
Neither manager saw anything, they were both in their respective dressing rooms, but Leeds’ boss Kevin Blackwell has said today, “My understanding is that Shaun Derry was attacked as he walked up the tunnel. It was an unsavoury situation that left the player needing five stitches.

“These are not the sort of things we need in our game and it is very disappointing to speak about something like this after we have gone away and won 2-1.”

Blackwell also confirmed that both managers were called to the referee afterwards adding, “The referee asked to see us both after the game and he said he saw what happened and will report exactly what he saw."

It is Burnley’s problem and Steve Cotterill has assured me he will sort it out. I will take him at his word, it involved one of his players so it is nothing to do with us and I’m not going to start commenting about the behaviour of other teams. We had a long chat after the game on Saturday and Steve said he won't put up with any antics in his football club. He's an honourable manager and he'll definitely do an honourable job.”
