Turf Moor season ticket farce

It all started when Stan suggested that some fans had asked for a refund on their season tickets and said that the club had sorted them out. This was picked up by the Burnley Express on Friday who run the story on the front page.

Almost immediately the club responded and said quite categorically that no supporters had asked for refunds, no not even one. We even had the ticket office manager Graham Raven backing that up with a "Burnley fans are loyal and like to support the club, not desert them" comment.

So there you have it there have been NO refunds on season tickets.

Oh dear the Daily Mail didn’t realise that when they decided to run the story on Saturday and again the club responded with quick denials and said there had only been four refunds all week. Again Mr. Raven was quoted and said, "We have had a good week and despite the four returns we sold 38 more season tickets on Friday".

Hang on Mr. Raven how has none suddenly become four? It cannot be both. Mind you the number of season tickets sold over the summer has been funny with Mr. Raven, in interviews, claiming 11,400 had been sold a couple of weeks after boasting of sales hitting 11,700.

The whole episode has really made the club look pretty silly and the ticket office manager has not come out of this with any credibility. He really does have a grip on things though, when the fixtures were announced and we had a home game on Boxing Day he was quick to say that you get a home Boxing Day game if you are at home on the opening day of the season. I’m not quite sure how he came to that conclusion, maybe due to the fact that he has been involved at Turf Moor for over a year now.

It really has been a week of PR gaffes at Burnley FC with the youth game, Foundation night and season tickets.
