Turf Moor debut for Beeby

Last updated : 02 January 2005 By Tony Scholes

He is in his sixth season on the Football League list but has never been allocated a game at the Turf before and has on only twice been referee at a Burnley game.

The last of these was as far back as three seasons ago when he was in charge of our 1-1 draw at Barnsley, a game that saw Gareth Taylor the only Burnley player carded as well as scoring our goal.

Beeby has refereed three games this season in which he has handed out seven yellow cards, four of them to away team players and three to home team players. All three games have resulted in home wins.

Last season he recorded a century when he issued exactly 100 yellow cards along with 10 red in 35 games.

It was a season that ended with him refeering the Crystal Palace v Sunderland Play Off Semi-Final 1st leg at Selhurst Park followed by the 2nd Division final between Bristol City and Brighton at the Millennium Stadium.

His record for cards last season has been just about the average for him during his five previous seasons.

Tomorrow he will be assisted by Craig Barker (West Yorkshire) and Carl Bassindale (South Yorkshire).
