Tudgay - the story continues

Last updated : 10 July 2009 By Tony Scholes
Tudgay had agreed a three year deal with the Championship club but has remained unsigned since Burnley showed a keen interest in bringing him to the Premier League. Powell, a former Wednesday player, has now said: "Marcus does not want to sign a new deal at Sheffield Wednesday as he is keen on a move to Burnley."

He's also said: "It is public knowledge that Burnley have made an offer for Marcus and we believe it was a reasonable offer for someone who has just one year to run on his contract."

He cost Wednesday £250,000 and the whole situation, very similar to the one that saw us lose players such as Robbie Blake and Andy Gray in recent years, has angered former Claret Laws who spoke out last week and told Owen Coyle in no uncertain terms that if we wanted his player the asking price would be a lot higher than we'd offered.

Burnley's offer appears to be somewhere between £1.5 million and £1.75 million and it seems we are very reluctant to go higher than that.

Nothing appears imminent on this one and whether anything happens before we go to America in six days time remains doubtful.
