Trippier and Ings on top in Birmingham defeat

Last updated : 01 February 2013 By Tony Scholes

They couldn't be separated in the man of the match vote, coming joint first, both with a 20.2% share of the vote.

Interestingly Dean Marney, who was bottom in the player ratings with many reducing his mark because of the now overturned red card, was third and not far behind with 19.1% and his fellow midfielder Chris McCann, who took the man of the match vote on the ground, came fourth with 11.7% of the vote.

It was In the ratings where Trippier beat Ings. The right back headed the list with a rating of 6.56 out of 10 and Ings, with a rating of 6.41, came second. Otherwise the result was totally different to the man of the match with Lee Grant taking third place with a rating of 6.15 and just behind him a rating of 6.06 out of 10 gave Danny Lafferty fourth place.

That result wins Trippier ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Just behind was Ings with eight points; both Marney and Grant won two points with one point each for McCann and Lafferty.

Trippier has now moved up one place to sixth in the table and at the top both Grant and Marney have moved that little bit closer to leader Charlie Austin although the gap between first and second place is still 15 points.

The next vote, the Peterborough man of the match, will be underway within an hour of the final whistle tomorrow.
