Trio win caps

Kyle Lafferty - won his eighth cap
Michael Duff and Kyle Lafferty were both in the Northern Ireland side, Duff playing the full ninety minutes and Kyle being substituted with just over twenty minutes to go. It could have been three in the same side, but Steve Jones who was called up with them had to pull out with the injury that has kept him out of the Burnley side recently, until he was used as a sub at QPR on Saturday.

Duff and Lafferty are familiar names in the Northern Ireland side now, taking their number of caps to fifteen and eight respectively, but on the other side of the pitch it was a welcome return to international duty for goalkeeper Danny Coyne.

Danny's last game for his country was in September 2005, just prior to him sustaining the serious knee injury that kept him out of the Burnley squad for over a year. He's been in a couple of squads since recovering but without getting a game, although on this occasion he wasn't in John Toshack's original squad that contained three keepers.

Two of them had to withdraw, Coyne was a late replacement and got in ahead of Paul Jones to win his twelfth cap and his seventh since joining Burnley. There was one other familiar face in the Welsh side, right back Richard Duffy who was on loan at the Turf during October and November 2004.

Well done to all of them on their latest caps.
