Tony Grant at Derby

Grant initially trained with Accrington Stanley but moved on to Oldham where it looked for a time he might sign a deal. That wasn’t the case and now new Derby manager Phil Brown has invited him to train with them.

Derby play two games this evening, at Notts County and at Belper, and Grant will play the full ninety minutes of the game at Belper as he tries to impress enough to win a new contract.

It’s almost four years since he joined the Clarets from Manchester City in a £250,000 deal, coming in as John Mullin moved on to Rotherham and he made an early impact impressing as we went on a run of successive wins.

He’s been in outstanding form for the last couple of seasons and it has been something of a surprise that he hasn’t won himself a deal yet but Brown has been keen to get him in for some weeks and suggestions are that he could become his next signing.
