Having beaten Preston and Tranmere we now entertain Oldham in what should be an exciting final so please if you can get down and support the lads who will be doing their best to lift some silverware.

The last time we won this competition was in 1995 when a Phil Eastwood goal secured a 1-0 win at Maine Road against Manchester City.

A year earlier a crowd of over 9,000 saw us go down 4-2 to Manchester United in the final with a side including John Mullin, Paul Smith and Andy Oakes who was the substitute goalkeeper for Derby yesterday. Mullin and Oakes have both played Premiership football.

Manchester United included just one player who went on to first team stardom at Old Trafford and that was Phil Neville although also in the side was David Johnson who two years ago was playing on loan for the Clarets.

Who knows what the future will hold for tonight’s youngsters? What we do know is that they will be playing for our club in a cup final.

Kick off tonight is 7:00 p.m. and admission is just £3 adults and £1.50 concessions. Give the lads your support if you can and a decent crowd will also add a bit of money into the club’s coffers.
