Tight at the bottom

Last updated : 31 December 2009 By Tony Scholes
Everton, courtesy of their 2-0 success over the Clarets at Goodison Park, were the only winners in the bottom half of the table and that enabled them to climb a few places to their highest position of the season.

Meanwhile, at the top, there were wins for all of the top seven, apart from Villa who lost their home game against Liverpool.

The results and stats are below as are the leading scorers, each club's disciplinary record and the next fixtures. Also included this week, as we go into the New Year, are the average league attendances for each club.
