Three new scholars join the Clarets

Meanwhile three new players are set to join the club as scholars and the net has been cast wider with none of the three local players. The first is a midfielder Adam Jones from Rhyl in North Wales and he will be joined by two new defenders in Daniel Pitham from Coventry and Londoner Gary Carter.

Carter in fact played for the youth team in the Merit League defeat against Oldham back in early March – see report – but Jones and Pitam are still to play a competitive game for the club.

Another 16 year-old who will be with the club on a permanent basis next season is Welsh schoolboy international Rhys Carpenter. He was selected for the Welsh Under 17s recently but injury kept him out. Carpenter however will not be joining the club as a scholar, he has signed a three year professional contract with the club.
