Coventry played well that night at Burnley, going home with a point from a 2-2 draw. They lost their next game at Preston but since Thorn took charge they've won 3 and drawn 3 whilst losing just 2.

Those results, allied with a change of style, have won him the job full time and chairman Ken Dulieu said that Thorn, a player with Crystal Palace, Wimbledon and Newcastle, deserved his chance after transforming the style of the team and improving the results under difficult circumstances.

A delighted Thorn, winner of an FA Cup winners medal for Wimbledon in 1988, said: "I have really enjoyed the spell in temporary charge and am relishing the opportunity to shape the team over the longer term."
