Thomas – it is bad news

Thomas was injured yesterday at Reading after he fell over former Claret Glen Little and almost immediately the news from the dressing room was that they feared the worst.

That is exactly how it is and a scan today revealed that Wayne has suffered a snapped anterior cruciate ligament, a snapped medial knee ligament and also damaged a cartilage at the back of the knee.

It means that the central defender, who signed from Stoke in the summer, will now be ruled out for the rest of the season and that is terrible news for him as he was looking to establish himself at the Turf.

Manager Steve Cotterill said when he heard the news, “Wayne won’t play again this season. It is heartbreaking for us, especially as he was coming into his own in the last few games.

“We now have to move on, but Wayne will be kept with us and we will keep him involved. We’ll make sure, with his hard work, that he will make a full recovery.”
