Chris Foy will referee Burnley for a third time this season when we face West Ham tomorrow at the Boleyn Ground. His previous games were the home win against Sunderland and the defeat against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

He had a decent game when we beat Sunderland and certainly didn't miss the blatant penalty when Anton Ferdinand brought down Wade Elliott. Generally that's been the case with Foy other than a couple of occasions. At Ewood Park I remain convinced that the second goal should not have been allowed. As easily as Brian Jensen was manoeuvred he was clearly pushed and the goal should have been disallowed.

Generally he's been OK when refereeing Burnley but he had a nightmare in our first game of this Millennium at Notts County and made a shocker of a mistake in sending off David Unsworth two seasons ago when the defender played the ball.

Since the Blackburn game he's twiced made use of his red card and the first of those was where he'll be tomorrow, at West Ham. He sent off Scott Parker in their home draw with Arsenal and two days later dismissed Manchester United's Gary Neville as they won their Carling Cup tie at Barnsley.

His yellow card count has now reached 41 for the season from 13 games, just over three per game. Four of those came in the Community Shield at Wembley and of the others seventeen have gone to home players and twenty to away players.

He will be assisted by Ron Ganfield (Somerset) and Dave Bryan (Lincolnshire). The fourth official is Football League referee Phil Crossley (Kent) whose only Burnley game was refereeing our 4-1 win at Norwich in the 2006/07 season.
