There's no new manager yet

Dave Edmundson - no new manager yet
The name on everyone’s lips is without doubt former Cheltenham and Stoke boss Steve Cotterill who has just ended a short association with Leicester to try and get back into management.

It does appear that his is the only name in the frame now but the club have made it clear this evening that there has been no confirmed decision. In fact it appears that it is still far from a done deal and there could yet be a change of direction if talks tomorrow are not concluded satisfactorily.

It looks as though much of the discussions will centre on the financial package on offer and although it now looks certain that the club are keen to appoint Cotterill as soon as possible it could well not be the case if things don’t go smoothly.

Chairman Barry Kilby is currently out of the country whilst Chief Executive Dave Edmundson is set to take a holiday within days. Any problems tomorrow and there could, at best, be a delay before the new man is revealed. At worst it could mean the Clarets going back to one of the other candidates.

Hopefully that won’t be the case and we can reveal our new manager this week and start the process of building a squad for the 2004/05 season which is due to start just nine weeks this Saturday.
