There's life after York

Gerry Harrison - signed for Northwich Victoria
York started the season with five ex-Clarets in their side but when they took on Morecambe in a televised match this week only one of them was still in the starting line up, Paul Robinson who was with us on loan three years ago.

Steve Davis is out again with an injury whilst Chris Brass was on the bench after returning from injury – but the other two, Paul Crichton and Gerry Harrison, have moved on.

Crichton was sacked after an altercation with the York fans during their defeat at Gravesend. He was initially suspended but then dismissed and joined Nationwide Conference North side Stafford Rangers on a week to week basis.

This weekend though he will make a debut for Leigh RMI who are at home to Stevenage Borough. Leigh took a 6-1 hammering in midweek at the hands of Carlisle so manager Phil Starbuck and his assistant Gary Kelly have brought in two new signings including Crichts.

Leigh are currently in 20th place in the table with six points but that is nothing compared to Gerry Harrison’s new club Northwich Victoria.

Harrison also went to York at the start of the season but after four substitute appearances he was released because they couldn’t afford to keep him. His last appearance was against Blackpool in the LDV Vans Trophy.

Last Saturday he made a debut for Northwich and has played two games this week for them and impressed enough to win a deal with them. The Cheshire club have made further new signings this week and they will need them as they are now eight points adrift at the bottom of the league with minus four having had ten points deducted for falling into administration.

York meanwhile are 16th and having seen them this week look nothing like capable of mounting a push to get back into the Football League but for Crichton and Harrison it is now a battle just to stay up.
