The Real Player of the Year Evening

Special guest Roger Eli
The who event was cancelled last year by the club at the last minute but this year the clubs have worked together to organise it themselves and with the full support of the manager and players it promises to be a special night.

From ‘Player of the Year’ to ‘Goal of the Season’, there will be awards from all the various Supporters Clubs and the whole evening will be in the capable  hands of Jeff Brown who is flying in specially today from Amarillo to host the whole evening.

A Claret hero of the late 1980s and early 1990s Roger Eli is the special guest and he will be speaking a the evening and also answering questions from the fans.

Who will win the various awards? There are a number of candidates for the main awards and maybe this year it won’t be dominated by one player as it has done in some previous years when Andy Payton, Paul Weller, Dean West and Gareth Taylor have almost had a clean sweep.

Will Robbie Blake be remembered and will any of his goals win any of the Goal of the Season awards. Surely the home goal against Wolves back in August and that free kick against Preston should be in the reckoning. But then there’s Ewood and other goals to consider.

It looks set to be a virtual sell out with tickets costing just £3 for the evening, and having been allocated to each of the groups. And there’ll be news of the event on Clarets Mad by Wednesday morning.

This is the REAL Player of the Year Evening, organised by the fans for the fans and the award winners chosen by the fans.
