The Olivers take centre stage

Thankfully the attention seeking son Michael is at Deepdale whilst dad Clive will be at the Turf for the second time in under three months having refereed our home win over Wolves in February.

One thing is guaranteed, we won't get a performance anything like that you could expect from his son. Dad Clive is much less likely to want to grab the headlines for himself and will at times fade into the background.

His problem at times is that he nit picks too much in terms of free kicks being taken just a yard or so from where they should, or a throw in taken two yards too far down the line.

But he's not a fanatic with the cards and this season he's handed out 78 yellow cards and six red cards in 31 games. There's no doubt that he favours the home sides as far as cards are concerned. Whilst all but one of the red cards has gone to away team players, a total of just 24 of the yellow cards have gone to home team players with 54 to away team players.

There are far worse referees to have, maybe Football League referee Karl Evans (Greater Manchester) will have the more difficult job as fourth official trying to contain Gary Johnson. Completing the team of officials are assistant referees Kevin Mattocks (Lancashire) and Glyn Mellor (Derbyshire).
