The man from Bolton

Not wishing to be the ones accused of letting the cat out of the bag we chose not to reveal the identity of the player, let’s face it Stan and Sam Allardyce could have been the only two to know about it other than a supporters’ web site.

But today with the player’s name revealed in at least one Sunday newspaper we can now tell you that it is 18 year-old central defender Danny Livesey who has been training with the Clarets all week.

Salford born Livesey joined Bolton from school and has progressed through their academy and in fact made his Premiership debut almost a year ago in a 3-2 home defeat against Liverpool, coming on as a sub for Anthony Barness after just half an hour.

His only other league appearance was as a late substitute against KKMC last November although he did play a full ninety minutes last season in a Worthington Cup tie against Bury and had another start in the FA Cup tie against Sunderland, both at the Reebok Stadium.

Livesey is highly rated at the Reebok and it is unlikely that Allardyce would be looking to part with the player on a permanent basis but he has been training with Burnley so it could be that Stan is looking to bring him in on a loan deal in the near future.
