The Long and Winding Road

The Cumbrians have lost Danny Livesey to injury for three months and are looking for a replacement central defender. Long has joined them for the week at their training camp after which manager Greg Abbott will make a decision whether or not to take him on loan.

Carlisle have reported that Burnley have decided that League One may provide the ideal opportunity for Long to get some first team action and boss Abbott said yesterday: "Kevin has just completed his first training session with us and he has settled quickly.

"This week provides us with an opportunity to take a look at him in an environment where we can work hard and get to know each other. He'll be with us all week and he will probably play some part in the game at Darlington on Friday evening, and then we can take it from there."
