The 125 shirt - how you voted

The shirt pictured, a sky blue and white striped shirt with black pin stripes was chosen, apparently because research showed these were our first colours. But this shirt bears no resemblance to anything previously worn by Burnley (I refrain from calling us the Clarets at this point) and that is the reasoning behind the thumbs down.

In our voting poll, held over the last four days, there's been a massive response, and over 61% of that vote has given it the thumbs down as an anniversary shirt. I have to admit that I was one of those who voted against it, and I still fail to see any significance in the choice at all.

However, I do quite like the shirt, and I do think had the pin stripes been claret that it would have made an excellent away shirt for a season (or even two), and it seems that many more must agree with over 65% claiming to actually like the shirt.

So yes, it is a good looking shirt, but no, it is not one that the majority are able to endorse as a one off 125th anniversary shirt, and it will look very strange indeed when the team take to the field in a home game wearing it.

Come on you Clarets ---- maybe not, it looks as though we will have to find a more suitable name on that day.
