Team of the Week – a Claret at last

Last updated : 23 October 2006 By Tony Scholes
Over the previous eight weeks, struggling clubs such as Southend and Stoke have had players selected on a regular basis whilst the Clarets have remained the only Championship club not to have a single player in any of the weekly teams.

Emails to the Football League received somewhat stroppy replies from their customer services team, but still no Clarets in the team. That is until this week, and we might have guessed they would wait until a week when we weren't at our best and they would choose the goalkeeper.

Brian Jensen made some good saves on Saturday at Plymouth, there's no doubt about that, and his performance has won him a place in the team this week. No sign of any other Burnley players I'm afraid, and astonishingly the Plymouth right back gets into the team.

Well done Brian, he's been named in the following team: Brian Jensen (Burnley), Paul Connolly (Plymouth), Leon Barnett (Luton), Alex Bruce (Ipswich), John Hills (Sheff Wed), Carlos Edwards (Luton), Sylvain Legwinski (Ipswich), Simon Whaley (Preston), Gary McSheffrey (Birmingham), Rowan Vine (Luton), Danny Dichio (Preston).
