Taylor's Forest move is a step closer

Peter Crouch - rumoured replacementt for Gareth Taylor
Any deal is subject to an eye specialist’s report but should that be satisfactory the player can then negotiate a move to the City Ground. Our sources, revealed last week, suggest that the player will almost certainly move and it now looks certain that his goal at Franchise on the last day of last season will prove to be his last league goal in his last league game.

There will be a mixed reaction from Burnley fans over this news and certainly the younger supporters seem baffled that we are able to let go our leading goal scorer. For those older supporters it is almost reminiscent of the times when players such as Martin Dobson, Leighton James, Willie Morgan, Ralph Coates, Brian Flynn and many more were sold to help balance the books.

There is no doubt that a replacement will have to be brought in and that of course will be a cheaper option. All fingers currently are pointing towards a loan deal for Aston Villa’s former Burnley target Peter Crouch although the 6ft7ins striker did feature for Villa in their Premiership game at Portsmouth last week coming on as a 77th minute substitute for Juan Pablo Angel.

But any move for Crouch, or indeed for any other player, will be subject to Taylor’s confirmed departure and that is now in the hands of the eye specialist.
