Taylor speculation despite injury

There’s been more speculation that striker Gareth Taylor is set to be sold despite the fact that he is still some time away from even being able to train again following his eye injury.

The big striker picked up the injury, and injury that proved to be far more serious than was first though, in the first Turf Moor pre-season game against Leeds when Michael Duberry caught him in the eye with a finger nail.

Much of the talk that afternoon was centred on the fact that the player was all set to move to Norwich with suggestions that a fee had been agreed between the two clubs but that proved not to be the case.

The Norfolk club confirmed that they had made an offer, they were hoping to sign Taylor and Franchise’s David Connolly who has since moved to West Ham, but claimed that they received no response from Turf Moor. Earlier in the summer though Barry Kilby had turned down an offer from them.

The player is currently out of action with the injury although the improvement is such that he was able to be at the game at West Brom last week and he could now be only around three weeks away from being allowed to start training again.

But the rumours won’t go away and apart from Norwich a number of other clubs have been mentioned including Nottingham Forest with sources close to the player himself claiming that it is a done deal and the player will go once he is fit.

There have been no such suggestions from Turf Moor although the tabloids have now picked up on it with one of them the Daily Mirror saying that he is available to the highest bidderon it but remember one newspaper, the Daily Mail, had us in administration a year ago so can they really be believed?

Only time will tell but even if Gareth Taylor, who missed out on an international cap last night because of the injury, is sold it will certainly be some time yet until the player is fit to play again.
