McClaren initially named a 20-man squad for the game but has added Under-21 player Taylor over the weekend following a number of notable performances for his club. Central defender Taylor was also in the Under-21 squad that has reached the European Championship Finals.

The 21-year-old has become a regular in the Newcastle side this season and started no fewer than 26 of Newcastle's Premiership games during 2006/07, and he also scored his first goals for his club, the first of two coming in a 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

He made his Newcastle debut in March 2004 in a UEFA Cup away win against Mallorca, coming on as a substitute for Andy O'Brien. This was after spending a month on loan with Wycombe Wanderers over the Christmas period.

Now a first choice with his club, he's moving ever closer to a full England cap and will take his place alongside the twenty players previously named for the Turf Moor game.
