Lee Grant - linked with a move to Burnley
The first name to surface was that of Sheffield United central defender Matt Kilgallon with speculation that we'd offered £1.75 million for him. It was reported that Sheffield United had accepted the offer but that the player himself had turned down a move to Turf Moor.

There could be more on that one, and that's' also likely with the second target from across the steel city. Our old friend (did I really choose the word friend?) Alan Nixon had one of his Burnley exclusives today (shouldn't they be Horwich exclusives now?) linking us with Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant.

It was said that we could be paying £1.5 million for the keeper who Laws will know well having taken him to Hillsborough from Derby County in the summer of 2007.

Grant made his league debut against the Clarets, coming on as a substitute for former Claret Andy Oakes in our 2-1 win against Derby at Pride Park in September 2002. He had a loan spell with the Clarets and played one game against Leicester for the suspended Brian Jensen, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

One player the new manager has confirmed he wants at Turf Moor is David Nugent. This Saturday will be the last game of his loan from Portsmouth which ends a week on Friday and the new boss has already confirmed he wants to keep Nugent at Turf Moor and will do all he can to ensure the former Bury and Preston striker remains with us.
