Stroud again for Clarets

Last updated : 06 February 2009 By Tony Scholes
I don't think there could have been any complaints about his handling of the Chelsea game, and even Steven Caldwell accepted he was probably right to bring out the red card. It was only his third Burnley game and the only disappointing one was his first at Plymouth back in the 2005/06 season.

That red card shown to Caldwell was Stroud's second of the season and he's since taken that total to five. All of them have been to players outside the Premier League. The most recent was Coventry full back Stephen Wright in a 1-1 draw at QPR in January.

His yellow card total is 81 in 23 games which is just about three and a half per game. Of those, 39 have gone to home team players and 42 to away team players.

He earned himself a rating of 88.25 in our Rate the Ref feature which seems him in fourth place. That came from his Chelsea performance and if he has a game similar to that I'm sure there will be on complaints.

He will be assisted by Nigel Bannister (East Yorkshire) and Stephen Child (Kent) whilst the fourth official duties will be in the hands of Football League referee Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire). Nigel Bannister is the assistant who suffered from the optical illusion at Watford earlier in the season.
