Stretch off to play for Stanley

At the time we thought they were Paul Cook and Andy Payton but we now believe that Stanley boss may have gone cool on the idea of bringing in Payts as they look forward to a season in the Nationwide Conference.

We are certain though that not only has a deal already been agreed with Paul Cook but that they have also signed Gordon Armstrong.

Manager John Coleman is looking for experience to guide them at the higher level when they will be coming up against sides who have recently been in the Football League and Cooky and Stretch apparently fit the bill.

They were hoping to attract Burnley fans down there with the signing of former Clarets along with their wish to play their games on Friday evenings. However it looks as though Friday football could have been scuppered by the league and their weekend home games will now be kicking off on Saturdays at 3:00 p.m.

Even so there are a lot of Burnley fans ready to go and offer their support when the Clarets are away. Things will look familiar with Cook and Armstrong in the line up.
