Stretch back in squad

Gordon Armstrong - back in squad
Stretch was out at the beginning of the season after tearing a hamstring in a behind closed doors friendly at Everton but recovered and returned to the first team and was used as a sub at Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of October.

He has since been out with another injury but played just about all the midweek reserve team game, came through it with no problems, and has been named in the squad to travel this afternoon.

He could start too with Stan having to find a replacement for Tony Grant who misses the game through suspension having picked up his fifth yellow card in the defeat at Preston a couple of weeks ago.

Stretch doesn’t appear to be the obvious candidate to step in but with Stan keen to employ Steve Davis in a midfield role there is every chance that he could be the replacement.

There have been suggestions elsewhere that Ian Cox could make a dramatic return from a hamstring torn just two weeks ago. Stan was quick to rule that out and said that Coxy remains out of the running.

With no other changes expected other than the replacement for Grant the Clarets could line up:

Marlon Beresford, Dean West, Gordon Armstrong, Arthur Gnohere, Graham Branch, Glen Little, Paul Weller, Steve Davis, Lee Briscoe, Robbie Blake, Gareth Taylor. Subs from: Mark McGregor, Paul Cook, Brad Maylett, Alan Moore, Ian Moore, Dimitri Papadopoulos.

Rotherham have no problems whatsoever with Ronnie Moore having a clean bill of health once Martin McIntosh had passed himself fit. They are expected to be unchanged from the side that beat Watford at Millmoor last Saturday although Mark Robins could force his way onto the bench after scoring twice for the reserves in midweek.

There is unlikely to be a place for former Claret John Mullin who has been out of favour in recent weeks and has been playing reserve team football.

Rotherham are expected to line up:

Mike Pollitt, Rob Scott, Chris Swailes, Martin McIntosh, Paul Hurst, Chris Sedgwick, Darren Garner, Nick Daws, Andy Monkhouse, Richie Barker, Alan Lee. Subs from: Ian Gray, Marvin Bryan, Paul Warne, Darren Byfield, Stewart Talbot, Mark Robins.
