Stewart goes back

He chose Forest after his agent made a very public search to find him somewhere to play for a year that was, according to the player, far enough away from Manchester.

Things haven’t gone well for him down at the City Ground and he hasn’t featured in the first team anything like as often as he would have liked. There have been rumours of problems and a suggestion that he didn’t get on with manager Paul Hart.

If he thought things were going to get better with Hart’s departure and the arrival of Joe Kinnear he had another think coming and the new manager has made no use of him at all.

He has started just eleven league games all season and only one since early November. He has not appeared in the first team once in 2004.

He is officially with Forest until the end of the season but today has returned to Old Trafford, his presence no longer required at the City Ground.

Kinnear said, “I had a long chat with Michael and we decided that it was best for all concerned if he returned to Manchester United.”

Interestingly the decision has been met with delight by the Forest fans.
