Stan's the man

Current Clarets’ boss Stan Ternent took the lead immediately and that was it, nobody was ever going to catch him and he just ran away with it.

The ten year period can be split into three with the initial success of two promotions from the old 4th Division that took us via a Wembley play off win to the new 1st Division. That was all under the management of Jimmy Mullen.

The second spell saw a relegation and three battles against a further relegation with all four under different managers. Mullen’s team went back down and then we were up against it when Heath came in with a win at Wrexham sealing the escape. Then there was the Waddle season followed by the first season under Stan.

The last three years though have seen us win back our place in Division One and stay there with two seventh place finishes and it is these three seasons under Stan that has seen him win the vote.

The voting reflected the three periods too with Stan picking up a massive 84.6% of the vote. Jimmy Mullen who had success but had a poor last 18 months came second with just 9.5%.

The other two, Waddle and the Poisoned Dwarf Heath, battled it out at the bottom. It seemed for most of the week that Heath would take bottom place but in the end he climbed above Waddle taking 3.5% against 2.4%.

So our summer voting is complete and we have our team of the last ten years with manager. Only three members of the sixteen man squad have never played for Stan in John Deary, David Eyres and Mike Conroy whilst a fourth, Adrian Randall, played for him at Bury.

So the complete line up is:

Marlon Beresford

Dean West

Steve Davis

Arthur Gnohere

Lee Briscoe

Glen Little

John Deary

Paul Cook

David Eyres

Gareth Taylor

Andy Payton

Subs: Nik Michopoulos, Kevin Ball, Adrian Randall, Mike Conroy, Ian Moore

Manager: Stan Ternent
