In a brief statement, the former West Ham player said: "After careful deliberation I have decided to turn down the offer of a contract extension with Burnley Football Club and move on to pastures new.

"I would like to thank the Burnley fans for their support over the three years. The crowd reaction after I scored against Blackburn will live with me forever.

"I wish my team mates, the fans and all the staff every success for the coming season in the Premier League."

Stanislas is expected to sign for Championship club Bournemouth who are managed by Eddie Howe, the manager who brought him to Turf Moor in August 2011 on the day Wade Elliott left for Birmingham.

I don't think any of us will forget the goal against Blackburn, one that was within minutes of giving him cult status at Turf Moor.

Clarets Mad would like to wish him the very best.
